So, here i am, adjusting to the worlds fast speed in an language that is spoken by so many, and I write so bad. So please, bare with me. I'm one of those lazy writers, that just types everything down thats poops into my head, but never check my spelling @..@. BUT i'll try to discipline myself a little better.
This blog is more a test to me... So what do I have to share? I'm sitting here at work, just cranked out 150frames of animation of Penguins of Madagascar (kids tv show) and am taking a break, again. I find myself getting easily distracted, but my mind needs these breaks. I find animating extremely exhausting. I dont know about you guys, but after a normal working day I'm going home and my head ist just smoked. I feel tired and drained and my brain just wants to breath and shout "GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK!". What is also interesting are the extrem contrast that animating brings with it. On one site, you are doing work that challenges you on a very high level of mental concentration. On the other side you are working in a super monoton paste. Well, maybe it would be different when working on a feature project. But so far I always have fallen into these hole of monotony (an actual word? to lazy to check on google). Its like a part of my brain is working on high speed and another part of it is just about to fall into a deep sleep. My eyes are slowly shutting down, I can barely fight the gravity force of my eye lids, the picture in front of me I see slowly starts to fade and before I know it, I'm having a little bitsy tiny deep nap on my desk, hoping not to snore. Its as my brain went out of gas or battery and needs to recharge on a 30 minute nap. And off I am into dreamland. I share my office with three colleagues and every time I fall asleep, I really hope for them, that I do that quietly. I do snore at times when I sleep at night (in my bed not at work). So what to do against this problem. Well first of all, I dont necessarily see it as a problem. They call it POWER-NAP. Doctors do recommend to have a 30 minute power-nap, this helps to get the brain right on top of its game afterwards. There are companies that even have set up own rooms for power-naps... but not most of them. So does not the company I am working for right now. Which means, that its probably not the best picture for my supervisors to see me napping it away on my desk, while we got deadlines to catch. Lucky enough I am always on schedule ;-) So again, what to do with this, lets call it "brian runs out of gas moment"? What I do: Stand up! Move! have a little chit chat. Make yourself a nice cup of tea, coffee, milk, hot chocolate (mhmm). Or even a little (healthy of course) snack. Go stretch. go outside and walk around the block. OR.. like me.. turn on your laptop and write a blog, that is about me falling asleep about work -.- The last option should not be your first. You should prefer something that takes your bump up and away from your computer. I am one of those lucky ones, that I got my lovely boyfriend right next door. So I most often go visit him! Or, if ok with your supervisor (I don't think they mind a lot) have a little power-nap. It does really help and should be implemented in everyone's office job, in my opinion. Well guys. Maybe I should get back to work! (man my colleague next to me has some really intense subway sandwich, giving some woohooo smell from it)
