We drove from Maine to BC, Waterboro to Ucluelet. We are on Vancouver Island now. We did not just travelled for pleasure, we actually moved from one corner of North America to the other. That we the amount of stuff. At some point we had to work and stayed on a camp for one month and road our bikes into town, where we rented a small office space out to work on our massive computers. So Caleb build a little bunk bed for the kids in the bed, since that has been a challenge for the entire travel.
I always try to find an alternative solution to the expensive one. While we could have build it all our selves, most of our tools we left behind in a storage in Maine, incl our welder. So i finally caved and bought a cabbunk from cabbunk.uk. Despite their website saying it fits the transit, it doesn't quiet perfectly. there are some flaws in the design, but we just took out our drill and some more Velcro and made it work. The Van is an absolute essential for US in our travels, but right now its just sitting on the parking lot in front of our newly rented house. Why a house? Long story. Bottom of the line for our Van. We invested about 20ish K for the built, not included labor. We spend a year building it, while working and kids. We learned a ton! Mosquite screens are the first thing to go. they are great, but the fabric crappy and doesn't hold up to our use. it rips. Especially with little kids and a low door entrance.
