Austria - Vienna, Tirol, Home
Vienna is the city I grew up in. Therefore of course I have a special relationship to it, especially with family and friends living there. We spend a little more then 3 weeks in Austria, one week in Tirol to climb and hike.
We traveled by train to Tirol, it took us about 7 or 8 hours to get from the Vienna train station to our final destination in Tirol, Campingplatz Mayrhofen (OEBB 2 return tickets EUR 210,-). We stayed there for 6 nights in our tent for about EUR 130, 2 persons (a little pricey in my opinion). The campsite is very big and was packed with those camping trailers. Too packed for our taste. If you ever plan to come here or basically any kind of climbing trip, take a car. It was horrible to get to the rocks by the public transportation's there. They do have them, but the last bus that takes you back home leaves at 6 pm and in my opinion are way to overpriced. EUR 20,- return ticket for two from Mayrhofen to Brandberg (half hour bus ride). The rock there is beautiful tho. Unfortunately it rained quite a lot, which makes it a little hard to climb. Also we hiked up and down the mount Ahorn, which was beautiful!
