...in September 2011 and its been a great experience so far. I train hard to progress, but it ain't easy. Though, everything becomes much easier when you are passionate about something.... and with the right motivating partner.
I was trying to research about girls, who just started climbing in the mid-late twenties, girls like me, but couldn't find much. In fact, couldn't find any at all. I would only find girls that are training on a professional basis or older veteran women. I was looking for some inspiration and motivation from girls being in a similar situation like me and how the conquer difficulties in climbing and how they keep pushing their limits. So here I make a start and am sharing my experience from the very beginning on with you guys. Hopefully it will be of any help for anyone out there. First of all I want you to know a little more about myself. I am not a 10 year old little miracle super strong and naturally talented girl. Well, I do think I have a talent of learning things quite fast, but I think its the will power, that makes you either progress or fail. I'm not super strong or super athletic or have been doing some kind of sports for ages. Most of my full times jobs where office jobs, so walking to the copy machine once in a while would be the most movement I'd do. Around May 2011 I started joining the gym and would go 2-3 times a week for an hour. In September I gave climbing a change and it captured me ever since. So, the facts: It's 23th of March, 2012. I started to climb September 2011. I am 180 cm tall (about 5,9 ft) and weight about 66 kilos. I'm just an average girl, passionate about doing things and exploring the world and what else god gave us. Exciting and challenging things, that keeps your horizon growing. At the beginning I would do all the same mistakes, that every beginner do in climbing. Still do sometimes. Pull myself up with my arms, not think about my feet placement and hang there like soft nudle. At least I always stay in control and never loos my cool.... well most of the times. So here is the thing, that got me very lucky in progressing very fast in my technique of climbing. My lovely partner, that has a few years of experience on his shoulders. "Duh, lucky" you might think. And yes, I feel blessed. But the best teacher is worth nothing, if you don't have the right attitude, the willpower, the motivation and most basic of all of course, the interest. Also surrounding yourself with inspiring people, as in strong and positive climbers, keeps your motivation level up. I believe climbing is something very specific. In term of, you are either crazy about it, or you dont care. Yes, there might be those people that go occasionally climbing or try it onces or twice. But its either you climb, or you dont. Everything in between is a waste of time and money. You cant be half hearted about it. .. to be continued.
