This is an old but never boring topic. Motivation is what drives us. For many its a problem to keep themselves motivated, for others it seems so simple. For the most, it comes and goes. I think, there must be a way of controlling it. Though I might have not found that secret switch to turn on the motivator inside me, but I do have a few tips and tricks how to feed it.
First, you need a plan. If there is no plan, there is nothing to be motivated about and nothing to work yourself towards to. Thats why, in my opinion, there are so many unhappy people, because they have not determine a purpose for themselves. So, if your unhappy and you know it, take a pencil or your laptop and write, draw, whatever way you enjoy the most and make a plan. I would suggest to start off to determine your plans for your near future. This could be your next week up to your entire year max (I see the next 12 months as near future). Everything more far in the future you can do after succeeding in the more near future plans. So lets start smaller and focus on your near future. Ask yourself: Where do you want to live? How do you want to live and what do you need for that? What do you want to achieve? What do you want to get rid of or stop doing? What do you want to change? What do you need to feel happy? I like to make things funny, so I would take a funny and happy picture of myself and put it on the top of this chart of my plan I am about to write. Just like this one day I was on a little mountain with my best friend and her dog on a very cold and snowy day. There where some trees around and I starting to hang on them like a monkey and just had fun. I felt very happy that moment and my best friend took a picture me hanging off that tree. So I take that one, as it reminds me of good old days and of my friends that love me, and put it on my plan. Why a picture of me? Because this is about me, my life, my wishes, my desires, my plans. It is a visual guidance or reminder and should help you to not loose track. Because, lets be honest. A lot of people work towards plans or dreams, they think they are theirs, but its actually their parents or their partners or even the societies plans or wishes. They expect you or want you to have certain things or do certain things, want you to adapt to rules and expectations, do like everyone does, otherwise you are not accepted nor tolerated and will be judged and outclassed. But lets not get too deep into that negative topic of outstanding people influencing you. This is about motivation and drive to make your life more fulfilled. So back to the picture. Have a nice and happy pictures of yours on top of that chart that you are about to make. Then, take some time and really think of yourself and what you want to do, achieve, change or experience. Look at that picture and think of the moment it was taken. What made you so happy and smile. Think about things you are passionate about, what makes you really exciting and you can never get enough of. Make a list of these things. Wright it all down, your desires and wishes. Now draw a time line and place your wishes according to when you want these to be fulfilled, but be honest with yourself and consider a reasonable amount of time that will be needed to execute them. I will not be able to loose 10 kilos in two weeks in a healthy way. That is just impossible. Now you should have your desires lined up all on a time line. Take those you have that you are certain about doing within the next 6 months. Like you want to start going to Yoga classes, or you want want to finish drawing that one painting or reading that one book and you never take your time for. Things that you always push away or you feel like you dont have the right physical or mental strength or experience to do them. Put your plan up somewhere, you will always run into it. For example hang up your plan on your bedroom door or in the bathroom. You need to remind yourself as often as you can. Cross those things that you have accomplished and finalized and feel the feeling of success, its addictive! Fight for yourself. Fight for your dreams and your right to be happy. Your life and happiness is in your own hands. It's YOU making the decisions. Will you continue to live life meaningless and depressed, or will you work towards your goals and dreams and want to be happy and live a fulfilled life? Dont let anyone stop you!
